Trócaire was set up in 1973 to help people living in the world’s poorest regions. Today we support communities in 16 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East to bring about lasting change. Last year, we helped 2.7 million people around the world, including refugees from Syria and those living in some of the poorest places on earth like South Sudan, Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
We provide practical aid in humanitarian emergencies like food, water and shelter, as well as supporting longer term projects like new irrigation systems and training in farming methods. We also help the communities we work with to challenge injustice and human rights abuses, for example supporting the Mayan people of Guatemala, who are being forcibly evicted from their land, to bring cases to court.

Right to Water, Malawi
In Malawi 2.5 million people don't have access to water and over half the population (7 million) don't have access to adequate sanitation. Trócaire has been supporting projects in Malawi through CADECOM since 2003, funding community irrigation systems and boreholes. Our partners are also involved in advocating around issues of climate change and the right to water, helping to protect those who are vulnerable to water grabs and droughts.

Here are some of the ways your gift can help Trocaire with its vital work
